- The National Council of Teachers of English is devoted to improving
the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels
of education. Since 1911, NCTE has provided a forum for the profession,
an array of opportunities for teachers to continue their professional
growth throughout their careers, and a framework for cooperation to deal
with issues that affect the teaching of English.

Pennsylvania Writing Project Network (www.an.psu.edu/ce/pwpn/)
- The Pennsylvania Writing Project Network (PWPN) is a network of eight sites, each housed on a Pennsylvania university or college campus. Every year, thousands of teachers participate in PWPN campus, school, and district programs. These teachers, representing all grade levels from kindergarten through university, often teach in a variety of disciplines other than English. The Project also serves administrators, students, and parents.

- KSRA, an affiliate of the International Reading Association (IRA), is a state-wide organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania comprised of individuals who are engaged in reading instruction, literacy development, and the encouragement of lifelong reading habits. KSRA's mission is to promote literacy, provide instructional leadership, support professional development, and advocate literacy issues. KSRA believes in the importance of collaborating with other organizations in achieving its purposes and goals.

- The International Reading Association is a professional membership organization dedicated to promoting high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction, disseminating research and information about reading, and encouraging the lifetime reading habit. Our members include classroom teachers, reading specialists, consultants, administrators, supervisors, university faculty, researchers, psychologists, librarians, media specialists, and parents. With members and affiliates in 99 countries, our network extends to more than 300,000 people worldwide.
